Abstract

Background: Wheelchair tennis belongs to complex polystructural sport activities with different movements and tennis strokes. The purpose of this study is to examine and compare differences in work-load (distance covered) and playing characteristics between a winner and loser in a particular wheelchair tennis match. Methods: Work load and playing characteristics were analysed and compared using the SAGIT/TENIS tracking system. Playing characteristics were assessed with 12 variables. Results: The winner in the selected tennis match covered shorter distance as compared to the loser. He was more aggressiveperformed more winner strokes and committed a similar number of errors as compared to his opponent. Conclusions: Tennis demands good physical condition of the player. The distance covered is around 5-6 km per match. The trend of the tennis game is directed towards more aggressive and also reliable performance. More successful player is the one who has the initiative in the game, puts pressure on the opponent and gets more direct points. Therefore, he forces the opponent into movement
