IMS-2: Integrierte Materialfluss-Systeme. Teilprojekt A3 Simulator-Betriebsfuehrungsplanung. Fabriksimulator als Instrumentarium der strategischen und permanenten Unternehmensplanung - Entwicklung und pilothafte Erprobung. Abschlussbericht

Abstract

Within the framework of this joint project a simulator for strategical and permanent production management planning was developed by Flachglas AG in cooperation with Fraunhofer-Institut fuer Materialfluss und Logistik. The developed operational-control, controlling and management simulator enables the user to develop, maintain, service and apply factory models of a defined logistic system. Using the factory model various problems which cannot be fully assessed by classical analytical methods (operations research, factory organization etc.) can be treated empirically. A dynamic experimental field is provided combining the factory model with the developed factory simulator. Series of experiments allow one to develop management strategies and obtain reliable quantitative results when evaluating them without impeding the sensitive processes in the real factory. The factory model and factory simulator cover some typical problems, e.g. resource organization and uses, factory structures, and factory control variants. Both, the respective complexes of problems and the factory simulation uses are independent of the sector of industry and of the size of the respective factory. Small- and medium-scale companies can equally profit from factory simulation.
