Abstract

Integration of tools to build computer-based process engineering environments is essential for improving design processes and for systematically creating design knowledge in an enterprise. This contribution assesses the state of the art in tool integration, puts current standardization efforts into perspective and introduces objectives and first results of three major research projects. In particular, it is pointed out that current standardization efforts are only addressing part of the integration problem.
