Kontinuierliche Biotestverfahren zur Ueberwachung des Rheins Zusammenfassung, Empfehlungen und Darstellung der Testverfahren, erstellt von der Bund/Laender-Projektgruppe 'Wirkungstests Rhein'

Abstract

The scientific and technical bases for an improved biological monitoring have been established which meets all requirements of a quick indication of effects caused by noxious substances in the river water. The report describes development and testing of automatic biosensors for effect on-line monitoring including toximeters based on the reaction of algae, bacteria and mussels. As a result of development and evaluation the implementation of the following automatic bioassays into the measuring stations of the Deutsche Rheinkommission along the river Rhine is proposed: Continual Daphnia test, fluorescence algae tests, a bacteria test (which still has to be specified) and a mussel test like the Dreissena polymorpha test.
