Messung der longitudinalen Elektronenpolarisation beim Speicherring HERA und Monte-Carlo-Studien zur Kalibration des HERA-Elektronen-Polarimeters

Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the operational principle and calibration of the HERA electron polarimeter. In this polarimeter cicularly polarized laser photons are Compton scattered from the HERA electron beam and the incidence point registrated in a calorimeter. The total error of the calibration constant is composed of the statistical measurement error and of non-statistical instabilities of the electron ring and the polarimeter. The study of 14 slope measurements performed in the beam time 1994 resulted a systematic error of the polarimeter of about 8%. By Monte Carlo studies it was studied, under which conditions the numerical fits can be applied to a slope curve and which slope curves are suited for a calibration of the polarimeter by this method because the fit results62 refs.Available from TIB Hannover / FIZ - Fachinformationszzentrum Karlsruhe / TIB - Technische InformationsbibliothekSIGLEDEGerman
