The Gamma-Ray Burst Experiment for the interplanetary mission Ulysses has been built in an european collaboration, (CNRS-Toulouse, SRON-Utrecht an MPE-Garching). The sensor part has been designed by the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Extraterrestrische Physik, and has been built, tested and integrated into the spacecraft by the companies Dornier System GmbH, Friedrichshafen und MBB, Ottobrunn. The spacecraft Ulysses is on an interplanetary orbit since October 6, 1990. The GRB-Experiment (Ulysses HUS-Experiment) is performing measurements of solar X-ray flares and Cosmic Gamma-Ray Bursts since switch on of the experiment in November 1990.
