У сучасній православній думці відстежуються дві тенденції щодо осмислення живого. Перша виявляється в різкому зростанні й постійному збільшенні уваги сучасного православного богослов’я до питань розвитку науки про виникнення життя, оцінки еволюційної теорії. Друга тенденція стосується ставлення до досягнень новітніх біотехнологічних практик. Тому ідеї східної патристики про цілісність усього живого, про його божественний характер є і до сьогодні морально-етичною експертизою в царині трансплантології, генної інженерії, клонування тварин тощо.Two subsequent tendencies towards the comprehension of living are observed. The first tendency is revealed in sharp increasing and constant extension of the attention of the modern Christian Orthodox to the questions of development of the science about the emergence of living, the estimation of the evolution theory. The second tendency in the understading of living by modern theologists cocerns the estimation of those fields of science. Therefore the ideas of eastern patristics about the wholeness of all living things, about its divine nature is the moral-ethical expert investigation in the branch of knowledge of transplantology, genetic engineering, cloning of animals etc
