Sant Miquel Sescloses va ser un priorat de monges benedictines situat dins l’antiga parròquia i a poca distància de l’església de Sant Joan Sescloses. No coneixem ni el moment ni les circumstàncies de la seva fundació, tot i que podem pensar que fou durant la segona meitat del segle XIII i en tot cas anterior a 1285. En aquest article es planteja que el priorat fou una fundació de l’abadia benedictina de Sant Pere de Rodes, dins el marc del moviment monàstic femení que té lloc arreu de Catalunya en el segle XIII. La seva existència fou molt curta, de prop d’un segle, perquè fou abandonat l’any 1374, quan les darreres monges de la comunitat s’afegiren a les del monestir veí de Penardell.Sant Miquel Sescloses was a Benedictine nuns’priory within the ancient parish of and not far from the church of Sant Joan Sescloses. We do not know the time nor the circumstances of its foundation, although we believe to it have been during the second half of the thirteenth century and surely before 1285. This article proposes that the priory was founded by the Benedictine abbacy of Sant Pere de Rodes within the context of the female monastic movement experienced in Catalonia in the thirteenth century. It had a very short existence, almost a century, until it was abandoned in 1374 when the last nuns of the community joined the neighbouring monastery of Penardell
