L’esperança en la SALVACIÓ i en la PLENITUD DE LA VIDA I DE LA HISTÒRIA constitueix una dimensió essencial de l’experiència religiosa que és característica del cristianisme. En moments històrics de pessimisme o desànim, aquesta experiència religiosa basada en l’esperança hauria de constituir un agulló interessant per a la mateixa societat. I en el pla eclesial, comunitàriament no podem viure la fe deslligant-la de l’esperança i convertint-la en un simple instrument per assegurar ideològicament l’estabilitat de la institució. Convé deixar que la fe es nodreixi de l’esperança en què descansa, perquè la pràctica de l’amor i la recerca de justícia tinguin la seva font en el Déu que a través de Jesucrist ha obert la història a un futur insospitat de plenitud. Al cap i a la fi, l’Església és la comunitat dels qui creuen que Déu és més gran que la història i que els càlculs interessats de les institucions. Malgrat tots els determinismes i poders que dominen la història i van imposant la seva tirania sobre les persones i els pobles, tenir fe és confiar i treballar per la victòria de Déu sobre el mal, les limitacions deshumanitzadores i la mort. Hi està en joc la possibilitat de l’extensió del Regne de Déu en aquest món, a través de l’Església i més enllà de les seves fronteres institucionals, ja que la voluntat salvífica de Déu és universal.Hope in SALVATION and the FULLNESS OF LIFE AND HISTORY is an essential component of the religious experience that characterizes Christianity. At periods of pessimism or discouragement, this religious experience based on hope should constitute an important stimulus for society itself. On the Church level, as a community we cannot live out our faith if we disconnect it from hope, changing it into a simple instrument for maintaining the ideological stability of the institution. It is necessary to endure that faith is strengthened by the hope on which it rests, so that the exercise of love and the search for justice have their source in the God who, through Jesus Christ, opened history to a future of undreamt of fullness. Over and above all else, the Church is the community of those who believe that God is greater than history and the biased machinations of institutions. In spite of all the determinism and powers that dominate history, and continue to exercise their tyranny over individuals and peoples, having faith means to trust and to work for God’s victory over evil, over dehumanizing limitations and over death. The possibility to spread the Kingdom of God in this world is at stake, a task for the Church but beyond its boundaries, since God’s purpose of salvation is universal
