Opinnäytetyö liittyy Omaiset mielenterveystyön tukena, Uudenmaan yhdistys ry:n projektiin Ihmeelliset vuodet vanhemmuusohjelma. Ihmeelliset vuodet ohjelma on lasten käytöshäiriöiden hoito- ja preventio ohjelma. Ohjelman tarkoituksena on vähentää riskitekijöitä sekä vahvistaa suojaavia tekijöitä ja täten ennaltaehkäistä häiriökäyttäytymisen pahenemista. Opinnäytetyö toteutetaan kirjallisuuskatsauksena ja sen tarkoituksena on tutkia miten Ihmeelliset vuodet ohjelma tukee perheitä lasten käytöshäiriöissä.
Käytöshäiriössä on yleensä kyse usean eri riskitekijän yhteisvaikutuksista ja lapsen yksilöllisten ominaisuuksien sekä ympäristön vuorovaikutuksesta. Käytöshäiriö haittaa usein suuresti lapsen ja perheen elämää. Hoitamattomana käytöshäiriöt aiheuttavat lapselle sopeutumisongelmia viimeistään hänen aloittaessaan koulunkäynnin. Lisäksi käytöshäiriöisen lapsen kouluvalmiudet ovat usein ikätasoaan alhaisemmat. Tutkimusten mukaan 40-70%:lla käytöshäiriöisistä lapsista esiintyy nuoruusiällä mielenterveysongelmia, rikollisuutta, päihteiden käyttöä ja itsetuhoista käytöstä. Lasten häiriökäyttäytymiseen on tärkeä puuttua mahdollisimman varhaisessa vaiheessa, sillä hoitamattomana käytöshäiriöt saattavat nuoruus iässä lisätä muun muassa rikollisuutta sekä ilkivaltaa.
Tiedonhaun perusteella voidaan todeta, että lasten käytöshäiriöistä on paljon tietoa saatavilla, mutta hoitomuotoja niihin on vähän esillä. Tähän perustuen on tarpeen tuoda Ihmeelliset vuodet ohjelmaa esille, koska sen positiivinen merkitys lasten häiriökäyttäytymiseen ja perheen hyvinvointiin perustuu tutkittuun tietoon. Opinnäytetyön tekijät toivovat välittävänsä lukijoille näkemyksen, että teoriat ja tutkimukset aiheesta ovat yhteydessä toisiinsa ja todellisuuteen.The Incredible Years parenting programme supporting families of children with behavior disorders
This Bachelor’s thesis relates to the project called The Incredible Years Parenting Programme of the Family Association Promoting Mental Health, Association Uusimaa. The Incredible Years programme is children’s conduct disorder treatment and prevention programme. The program aims to reduce risk factors and strengthen protective factors and thereby prevent worsening of disruptive the behavior. The thesis was carried out as a literature review and its purpose is to investigate how the Incredible Years program supports families of children`s conduct disorders.
Conduct disorder is usually an interaction between several different risk factors, the child’s individual characteristics and environmental interaction. Conduct disorder often disturbs the family life to a great extent greatly the child and family life. If left untreated, behavioral disorders will cause child adjustment problems not later than when he/she will begin his/her schooling. Also, school readiness of a child with behavior disorders child is often lower than that of other children of the same age. Studies have shown that 40-70% of children with the conduct disorder have mental health problems, conduct crimes, abuse substances or have suicidal behavior. It is important to address the children's behavior symptoms as early as possible, since if conduct disorder is left untreated it can increase crime and vandalism among youth.
From information retrieval it can be derived that there is much information available on children with behavior disorders, but the treatments are not commonly on display. On this basis, it is necessary to bring the Incredible Years program forward, because its positive impact on children's disruptive behaviors and family well-being is based on scientific research.
