Les espumes, tant líquides com sólides, presenten un conjunt de propietats fisicoquímiques que han propiciat que amb el
temps s'hagin anat desenvolupat un important nombre d'aplicacions de materials en forma d'espuma, tant en productes d'us
quotidià com ara el pa o l'espuma d'afaitar, com en aplicacions més específiques com les espumes extintores d'incendis o
d'espumes per a la separació d'impureses en minerals. En aquest treball es presenta un breu resum de les característiques més
rellevants de les espumes, així com de les seves aplicacions.Foams, either liquid or solid, show a large number of interesting phyisico-chemical features that are at the origin of important
technological applications that range from everyday products, such as bread or shaving foams, to the more specialized
fire extinguishing foams or their use in impurity separation processes for minerals. In this article we review the most salient
features of foams as well as of their main applications
