Tot recordant Carlo Goldoni com a reformador per excel·lència del teatre
italià, atès que amb ell mor la Commedia dell’Arte i desapareixen les màscares
de l’escena donant lloc, pas a pas, a personatges més versemblants i amb
caràcter propi, aquest article apunta també el fet que Goldoni era polèmic
i que trobà rivals i crítics que anaven contra seu. L’abat Chiari va fer una
burla de La vedova scaltra, una rèplica que es va dir La scuola delle vedove.
Això va dividir el públic venecià en «goldonistes» i «chiaristes» i l’obra va ser
prohibida pel Tribunal de la Inquisició. Tot i així no li va restar popularitat,
ans es va continuar representant arreu d’Itàlia.
Abstract
This article remembers Carlo Goldoni as the reformer par excellence of the
Italian theater. With him the Commedia dell’Arte dies and the masques
gradually disappear from the scene, supplied by more realistic characters
with their own personality. This article also points out that Goldoni was
controversial and had to face opponents and critics who were against him.
Abbot Chiari made a mockery of La vedova scaltra, called La scuola delle
vedove. This divided the venetian audience in «goldonists» and «chiarists»
and the theater play was forbidden by the Tribunal of the Inquisition.
Nonetheless it was still popular and it continued to be represented
throughout Italy
