Los Diálogos de Hume y el problema de la intolerancia religiosa

Abstract

En este artículo se presenta una interpretación de los Diálogos sobre religión natural de David Hume. Se sostiene aquí que el problema de la intolerancia religiosa juega un rol decisivo en la obra y que, por lo tanto, su análisis es de suma importancia para comprender cuál era el objetivo del autor. Considerando la caracterización de los personajes creados por Hume y atendiendo a los argumentos que cada uno de ellos defiende, se busca develar una estrategia argumental implícita. También se discuten, en el desarrollo del trabajo, algunas interpretaciones de los Diálogos que han sostenido los especialistas.This paper aims to offer an interpretation of David Hume’s Dialogues concerning Natural Religion. It will be argued that the problem of religious intolerance plays a decisive role in the work, and, so, that the analysis of this problem is very important to understand the author’s goal. Considering the characteristics of the personae created by Hume and paying attention to the arguments defended by each of these personae, we will try to discover an implicit argumental strategy. During the exposition of this hypothesis we also discuss other interpretations of the Dialogues
