El artículo analiza el impacto de las teorías degeneracionistas y regeneracionistas en América Latina, especialmente en Guatemala, enfatizando el desplazamiento conceptual que se produce en las elites intelectuales en relación al concepto de raza, cultura, etnia y regeneración. Analiza otras concepciones que se derivan de este binomio, como el de hombre nuevo, raza latina y sajona y la concepción que las elites indígenas asumen sobre la regeneración de su raza.The article analyzes the impact of the degenerationist and regenerationist theories in Latin America, with a special emphasis on Guatemala, focusing on the conceptual shift, among the intellectual elites, with regard to their concept of race, culture, ethnicity and regeneration. It also analyzes other conceptions derived from this binomer, such as new man, Latin and Anglosaxon race and the conception assumed by the indigenous elites regarding the regeneration of their race
