Estudio sobre la más importante innovación de Alejo Carpentier, la que abriría el camino de conjugar la magia y lo real en una síntesis que proporcionaba la singular versión que el escritor cubano tenía de la realidad y la literatura hispanoamericanas. Se comienza revisando las ideas de Carpentier en el prólogo de El reino de este mundo: el rechazo de las ideas estéticas europeas para buscar una expresión americana propia que formulará como lo “real maravilloso”. Se justifica como legítimo el proyecto literario del escritor cubano que queda definido al tiempo como una ontología y una gnoseología.A study of Alejo Carpentier's most important innovation, which created the possibility of combining magic and reality in a synthesis offered by the Cuban's unique version of Spanish American literature and life. The article begins with a review of the ideas in Carpentier's prologue to El reino de este mundo: the rejection of European ideas of aesthetics and the search for a genuinely American expression which he formulates in the notion of the “real maravilloso”.
