How to Explain the Universe in Two Minutes or Less

Presented on March 11, 2009 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the College of Management, LeCraw Auditorium.The Georgia Tech Honors Program and College of Sciences welcomed Joe Palca, a journalist for National Public Radio, who presented a talk on "How to Explain the Universe in Two Minutes or Less" as part of its Karlovitz Lecture Series.Runtime: 52:18 minutesSince joining NPR in 1992, Joe Palca has covered everything from biomedical research to astronomy. He began his journalism career in television in 1982, working as a health producer for the CBS affiliate in Washington, DC, after receiving a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz where he worked on human sleep physiology. He has won numerous awards, including the National Academies Communications Award, the Science-in-Society Award of the National Association of Science Writers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science Journalism Prize, and the 2008 Victor Cohn Prize for Excellence in Medical Science Reporting.
