This article deals with the research of possibilities formation and development of terminal values (purpose values) and instrumental values (individual character features) in the process of student self-study within the framework of higher school professional education. The research data of these value orientation groups from the student view point are given in this article including those especially vital for professional activities. The forms and the methods of self-study contributing to the development of value orientation, as well as, all-cultural, all-professional and professional competences of students in the system of higher school education are proposed in the article.Данная статья посвящена изучению возможностей формирования и развития терминальных ценностей (ценностей-целей) и инструментальных ценностей (качеств характера личностей) в процессе самостоятельной работы студентов при получении высшего профессионального образования. В статье приводятся данные исследования этих групп ценностных ориентаций, в том числе особенно значимых с точки зрения студентов для будущей профессиональной деятельности. В статье предлагаются формы и методы самостоятельной работы, которые способствуют развитию ценностных ориентаций, а также общекультурных, общепрофессиональных и профессиональных компетенций студентов системы высшего образования
