Article is devoted to analysis of a role of work in life of the older person. Labor activity is considered as the indicator of their social well-being. Based on the analysis of the semi-formalized interviews with older people we tried to find out the purpose of their work, influence of work on their health and quality of older people’s social communication. On a basis the analysis of the semi-formalized interviews the reasons and the purpose of continuation of work, influence of work on a state of health elderly, quality of social communications and an orientation of their interests are characterized.Статья посвящена осмыслению роли работы в жизни пожилого человека. Трудовая активность пожилых людей рассматривается как индикатор их социального самочувствия. На основе анализе полуформализованных интервью с пожилыми людьми охарактеризованы причины и цель продолжения трудовой деятельности, влияние работы на состояние здоровья пожилых, качество социальных связей и направленность их интересов
