Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten päiväkodin ja kodin välistä yhteistyötä voidaan kehittää niin, että se tukisi mahdollisimman hyvin vanhempia heidän kasvatustehtävässä, sekä kuvata millaista tukea vanhemmat kaipaavat vanhemmuuteen päiväkodin henkilökunnalta. Teoreettisena viitekehyksenä työssä oli kasvatuskumppanuus.
Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin yhteistyössä espoolaisen päiväkodin kanssa, jossa haluttiin vahvistaa päiväkodin ja vanhempien välistä yhteistyötä, sekä löytää keinoja vanhemmuuden tukemiseksi. Tutkimuksen aineisto kerättiin haastattelemalla viittä päiväkodin asiakkaana olevan lapsen vanhempaa, joiden lapset olivat 3-5 vuotiaita. Teemahaastattelujen avulla kerätty aineisto analysoitiin sisällönanalyysillä.
Opinnäytetyön tulosten mukaan keskeisiä vanhemmuutta tukevia tekijöitä päiväkodissa olivat ennen kaikkea erilaiset vanhemman ja työntekijän väliset luottamukselliset keskustelut, joita vanhemmat toivoivat enemmän kuin 1-2 kertaa vuodessa tapahtuvat kehityskeskustelut. Vanhemmat korostivat päivittäisten keskustelujen tärkeyttä, joissa työntekijä kertoo mahdollisimman yksityiskohtaisesti lapsen tekemisistä päivähoidon ajalla. Vanhemmat kaipasivat myös silloin keskusteluja kun erityistä huolta lapsesta ei ollut. Vanhemmat toivat myös esiin, että päiväkodin henkilökunnalla on erilaista tietoa lapsen kasvusta ja kehityksestä, sekä lapsiperhe-elämän tukemiseen liittyvää tietoa, josta olisi hyötyä vanhemmuuteen.
Päiväkodin ja kodin välisen yhteistyön kehittämiseksi vanhemmat toivoivat panostusta viestittelyyn, enemmän tietoa päiväkodin toiminnoista, käytännöistä ja henkilökunnan työn sisällöstä. Vanhemmat toivoivat myös henkilökunnalta herkemmin tietoa ja neuvoja erilaisten lapsiperheissä eteen tulevien haasteiden kanssa. Vanhemmat kaipasivat myös enemmän aikaa keskusteluihin, jotka edesauttaisivat luottamuksellisen suhteen kehittymistä vanhemman ja työntekijän välillä.The purpose of this Bachelor’s thesis was to find out how cooperation can be developed further between parents and a daycare center and to determine what kind of specific support is needed by parents.
We conducted our thesis in co-operation with a daycare center in Espoo. The kindergarten wants to improve relations between parents and daycare teachers and to give added assistance to parents with difficulties and challenges that are affecting their day to day living. Research material was obtained by interviewing five parents who have children aged three to five years. The interview was conducted as a theme interview. The research material was analyzed using a content analysis. As a ground theory in our study, we used pedagogical partnership.
The results lead to the conclusion that more focus is needed on discussion between parents and child-care teachers. Parents indicated that they would prefer to have more than one or two developmental discussions per year. They also emphasized the importance of the daily discussions between parent and day care worker when taking their child to and picking them up from the daycare. The interviewees did feel that cooperation in general with the child-care teachers in the past had been satisfactory but had experienced times when discussion with a child-care staff member has been difficult or impossible due to their inability to have the time to do so.
To develop and improve the cooperation between parents and kindergarten teachers, more one on one time between parents and teachers is needed whether the family has difficulties or not. More emphasis on this area would improve pedagogical partnership between families and kindergartens. Parents also indicated their desire to know more about how the kindergarten functions regarding their policies and the day to day running of the kindergartens. The information acquired in this thesis can be used to further develop the professional skills of the kindergarten staff and to enhance the precautionary approach in daycare
