Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää ruoka- ja luonnonvaratilastoja käyttävien asiakkaiden käyttötapoja, kokemuksia ja odotuksia. Työn toimeksiantajana oli Maa- ja metsätalousministeriön tietopalvelukeskus Tike, nykyisin Luonnonvarakeskuksen tilastoyksikkö.
Työssä selvitettiin, miten tiedonantajat tilastotietoja käyttävät, miten tilastotietoja pitäisi heidän mielestään esittää verkossa ja mitä toiveita,ideoita ja odotuksia asiakkailla on tilastopalvelujen kehittämisen suhteen.
Olemassa olevaa aineistoa syvennettiin haastattelemalla verkkosivustojen käyttäjistä tilastokyselyihin vastaajia, jotka ovat aikaisemmin jääneet lähes huomiotta tilastotiedon hyödyntäjinä, eikä heitä ole huomioitu ensisijaisena kohderyhmänä verkkosivustoja suunniteltaessa. Teemahaastatteluissa keskityttiin maatalousyrittäjiin, jotka ovat ruoka- ja luonnonvaratilastokyselyjen tiedonantajista suurin ja yhtenäisin ryhmä.
Viljelijöitä kiinnostavat perustiedot maataloudesta aluetasolla ja aikasarjana, joita käytetään oman toiminnan suunnitteluun, vertailuun ja esittelytilanteisiin. Tieto välittyy viljelijöille median, järjestötoiminnan ja kaupallisten toimijoiden välityksellä. Tiedonkeruutilanteet on pystyttävä hyödyntämään tiedonantajien ohjaamisessa heitä hyödyttävän tiedon olevan äärelle. Tiedon esittämistapa riippuu aina käyttötarpeesta ja –tilanteesta, mutta tiedon visualisointi, erityisesti dynaamisesti, herätti huomion. Verkkopalvelua tulee edelleen kehittää yhteistyössä palvelun käyttäjien kanssa.Seeds of information – Developing the web portal of food and natural resource statistics with users
The aim of this thesis was to found out way of usage, experiences and expectations of the users of the food and natural resource statistics. The commissioner of the thesis was Information Centre of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (Tike), later the Statistics unit of Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).
The objectives of this work were to research how respondents of web questionnaires use available information of statistics, how they think statistics should be presented on internet and what kind of ideas and expectations they have about developing statistical services. The existing data was deepened by interviews of respondents of web questionnaires as users of statistical websites. They are hardly considered as primary users of statistical web sites or planning web services before. Theme interviews were concentrated to agricultural entrepreneurs who are the greatest and homogenous group of respondents in food and natural resource statistics.
Farmers are interested in basic information of agriculture, in local level and time series which they use for planning their production, comparing situation and presentations. Information is now provided by media, agricultural organizations and commercial agents for farmers. The collecting data must be of use of guiding respondents to find useful statistical information also for them. The way and form of offering information depends on user’s need, but the visualization of the information drew attention. Web services must be developed with cooperation with users of services
