INTRODUCTION: The antioxidant N-acetylcysteine (NAC) restores volatile anesthetic isoflurane-induced preconditioning against myocardial infarction in hyperglycemia (1). However, the mechanism whereby NAC restores isoflurane preconditioning cardioprotection is unclear.
