Opinnäytetyössä pohditaan avoimen opettajuuden mahdollisuutta tanssinopetuksessa. Tekijällä
on halu laajentaa ja kasvattaa omaa pedagogista osaamistaan kohti avoimempaa opettajuutta.
Avoimuudella tarkoitetaan oppilaiden aitoa kohtaamista ja opettajan rehellistä läsnäoloa
opetustilanteessa. Avoimuutta lähdetään etsimään kommunikatiivisesta opettamisesta, jossa pyritään avoimeen ja keskustelevaan opetukseen. Kommunikatiivinen opettaminen on syntynyt pyrkimyksestä pois eettisesti arveluttavasta piilovaikuttamisesta opetuksessa. Työssä esitellään lyhyesti kommunikatiivisen opettamisen ja dialogisuuden teorioita ja peilataan niistä syntyneitä ajatuksia käytännön tanssinopetukseen. Esimerkkinä avoimesta opetustilanteesta tekijä käyttää eri taidealoja yhdistävää Luomus-projektia, jossa on itse ollut mukana. Luomus-projektin kautta
esitellään Johnstone-metodia ja pohditaan sen käytäntöjä kommunikatiivisen opettamisen viiden perusperiaatteen valossa. In the diploma project the possibility of the communicative teaching in dance education is
contemplated. Communicativeness refers to the genuine meeting of pupils and to the teacher's
honest presence in the teaching situation. The author is willing to expand her teaching skills
towards more communicative and open teaching. Openness is being searched through the theory of communicative teaching in which the aim is towards more conversational and open
teaching. The communicative teaching has been created to the need of eliminating ethically
troubling indoctrination in teaching. Diploma project briefly demonstrates the theories of
communicative teaching and open dialogue and they are briefly mirrored to the practical dance
teaching. The author uses as an example of the open teaching situation a project called Luomus.
Luomus project brings different art fields together. Author took part to this project during her
studies.A Johnstone method is shown through the Luomus project and its practices are thought
about in the light of the five basic principles of the communicative teaching
