Synthesis, structure and properties of hydroxyapatite (HA) reinforced polysulfone (PSU) and their application for hard tissue replacement were investigated. PSU is an amorphous, biocompatible polymer which possesses high strength and modulus. The manufacture of HA/PSU composite consisted of blending, compounding, pelletizing, drying and compression molding. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of the composite was carried out on a Perkin-Elmer DSC 7 system. The results show that properties of the composite are affected by the HA content and the incorporation of HA in PSU decreases fatigue life of the composite.link_to_subscribed_fulltex
