Carson, Jr.Mayor, City of PortlandCity HallPortland, OregonDear Mayor Carson:After our meeting of September 20th, at which timeMr. Baldock explained the proposed plans for the Front Avenueproject, I made the suggestion to Mr. Baldock in the presenceof Commissioner Bowes, that an informal meeting be arrangedbetween the State High?/ay Commission, the City Council as awhole, and representatives of the Metropolitan Association,atwhich time a discussion may be had as to how the expense forright of way {shall be apportioned between the Gity and theHighway Commission. Mr. Baldock stated that in his, opinionthat was the proper procedure and felt that such a meetingshould be arranged at the earliest possible date.I have oecert&ined that the next scheduled meetingin Portland of the Highway Commission sdlil be held November2nd and 3rd, and I would like to suggest that you as Mayor ofthe City arrange for such, informal meeting, either before orafter the regular sessions of the Commission,so that thismatter may be settled in ample time to sllow for the conductof a proper educational campFi^n in the event that it isnecessary to place the matter on the May ballot.Will you please let me know whether you agree withthis suggestion.sincerely,cc: to Hon.Wffi.A.
