The hotels located in the vicinities of the rail stations in São Paulo City (1900-1917)

Abstract

Based on criminal lawsuits as well as on newspapers, this article aims at lookinginto the hotels located in the vicinities of the rail stations of the districts ofLuz and Brás in São Paulo City, in the first two decades of the 20thcentury. The text shall focus particularly on the profile of the guests of suchhotels and on the reasons that led them to stay in these places.Fazendo uso de processos-crime e jornais, este artigo procura examinar oestabelecimentos de hospedagem da cidade de São Paulo nas imediações das estaçõeferroviárias dos bairros da Luz e do Brás, nas duas primeiras décadas do século XX.
