Neovascular glaucoma is the most difficult form of glaucoma and responds poorly to medical treatment and conventional filtering procedures. Neovascular glaucoma most commonly occurs after a central retinal vein occlusion or in association with proliferative diabetic retinopathy. It is a secondary glaucoma caused by the development of fibrovascular tissue growing over the surface of the iris and trabecular meshwork.
