A positive change in surgical attitudes towards online workplace-based assessment

Traditional models of surgical education have been based on the apprenticeship model. However, in recent years work patterns have changed significantly 1 and a competency-based approach to trainee assessment has been developed with the introduction of workplace-based assessments (WBAs) and online portfolios.
