A new genus, Tomestenoporhynchus, with type species Liorhynchus rudkini LYASHENKO, 1959, is described from the lower Frasnian of the central part of the Russian Platform. As a consequence modifications have to be made to the definition and diagnosis of Stenometoporhynchus SARTENAER, 1987 as well as to the comparisons between that genus and Lateralatirostrum SARTENAER, 1979
