Kindergarten and primary school between differentiation and integration. Model assumptions regarding structures and processes of system development

Abstract

Wesentliches Kennzeichen der Bildungssystementwicklung sind fortschreitende Prozesse der Ausdifferenzierung, Differenzierung und Integration. Immer mehr pädagogische Arbeitsfelder und Einrichtungen werden Teil des Bildungssystems. Verdeutlicht am Beispiel von Grundschule und Kindergarten wird die These vertreten, dass sich beide Organisationen in jeweils unterschiedlichen Phasen und Geschwindigkeiten dieses Modernisierungsprozesses befinden. Die hier eingenommene system- und modernisierungstheoretische Perspektive präzisiert das Spannungsfeld zwischen historisch gewachsenen Differenzen und heutigen Ansprüchen an die Anschlussfähigkeit beider Organisationen. Angestrebt wird die Entwicklung einer übergreifenden Theorie struktureller Integrationsprozesse. (DIPF/Orig.)The main characteristics of the development of the educational system are processes of differentiation and integration. An ever greater number of pedagogical fields of work and institutions become part of the educational system. Based on the example of primary school and kindergarten, the authors argue that both organizations are in the middle of different phases of this process of modernization which proceeds at a different pace, respectively. The system- and modernization-theoretical perspective adopted in this contribution paints a more precise picture of the field of tension between historically grown differences and present-day demands regarding the connectivity of these two organizations.
