Publication characteristics in the interdisciplinary field of educational research

Abstract

Zusammenhänge von Publikationsmerkmalen in der Bildungsforschung mit zeitlichen Entwicklungen, disziplinären Traditionen und Aspekten der Wissenschaftsförderung werden analysiert. Ziel der Untersuchung ist es, Unterschiede in zentralen Merkmalen der Publikationen von Bildungsforschungsprojekten zu identifizieren. Dazu wurde der Publikationsoutput einer Stichprobe von 270 Projekten mit erziehungswissenschaftlichem, soziologischem und psychologischem Hintergrund aus den Zeiträumen 1995-1997 und 2006-2008 mit unterschiedlichen Finanzierungsarten untersucht. Die Ergebnisse belegen wesentliche förderungs- und disziplinspezifische Unterschiede, die vor allem die kollegiale Begutachtung, die Publikationsarten, die Produktivität, das Ausmaß der Vernetzung, den Umfang von Mehrautorenschaften und die Internationalität betreffen. (DIPF/Orig.)Investigated were temporal changes of publication characteristics in educational research as well as how these characteristics are associated with the traditions of different academic fields and aspects of funding. The main goal was to identify differences in the central characteristics of educational research projects\u27 publications. To this end, the publication output of 270 projects with educational, sociological or psychological backgrounds, with different funding sources and from two different time periods was examined. Results reveal specific funding- and subject-related differences, in particular with regard to peer review status, publication type, productivity, networking, multiple authorship and international focus.
