ABSTRACT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BODY IMAGE AND CONSUMPTIVE LIFESTYLE WITH SELF-ESTEEM ADOLESCENT GIRLS WHO USES SKIN CARE IN SURAKARTA CITY Welly Dwiga Fitriandari NIM. G0111086 Departement Psychology of Medical Faculty Sebelas Maret Surakarta University Self-esteem is the global dimension of self which is a positive or negative judgment made by individuals, which shows the extend individuals like themselves as individuals capable, important and valuable. Adolescent self-esteem can not be separated from the view of a adolescent on his physical condition or body image, while adolescents use a wide range of goods and services that lead to the consumptive lifestyle to support the appearance related self-esteem. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of body image, consumptive lifestyle, and self-esteem among adolescent girls who uses skin care in Surakarta city. The research was held at five skin care in Surakarta city, there are: skin care N in western Surakarta, skin care EL in eastern Surakarta, skin care E in southern Surakarta, skin care LB in northern Surakarta, and skin care L in the middle of Surakarta. The technique selection of skin care usng cluster sampling. Sample of this study is 80 adolescent girls who uses skin care in Surakarta city. The sample technique used purposive incidental sampling. An instruments in this study using 3 scales, self-esteem scale, body image scale, and consumptive lifestyles scale. Data analysis techniques in this study using multiple regression analysis, calculated using SPSS version 23.0. Based on the analysis proved that there is a significant relationship between body image and consumptive lifestyles with self-esteem in adolescent girls who uses skin care in Surakarta city with significancy 0,000 (p Ftable=3,115. There is a significant relationship between body image and self-esteem adolescent girls who uses skin care in Surakarta city with significancy 0.001 (p Ttable=1,991. And, there is a significant relationship between consumptive lifestyles and self-esteem adolescent girls who uses skin care in Surakarta city with significancy 0.002 (p Ttable= 1,991.
