Studies in Tasmanian spiders. Part I.

Abstract

The following paper deals with material collected in both the north and the south of Tasmania. Six new species are described. Among the Avicularidae, two very interesting genera are represented, namely Migas and Hexathele, both of which are typical New Zealand genera. Family AVICULARIDAE. Sub-Family MIGINAE. Genus Mig as (L. Koch). The type of this genus is Migas paradoxus (L. Koch} found in New Zealand. It is therefore of interest to record the occurrence of the genus Migas in Tasmania. The following description deals with a new species from this State. The name Migas nitens is suggested on account of the shiny appearance of the cephalothorax. Includes diagrams and physical description of species
