Role of Vehicle-To-Grid Systems for Electric Load Shifting and Integration of Intermittent Sources in Latvian Power System

Abstract

The goal of the study was to evaluate the benefits from V2G system for electric load shifting and integration of intermittent sources in the Latvian power supply system. The deterministic, advanced energy system analysis tool “EnergyPLAN” was used for modeling potential future scenarios which are based on various installed electric capacities of wind power plants and V2G systems (the number of electric cars and their availability). The results show that the V2G system could provide an important benefit for “peak shaving” by supplying electricity back to the grid, reaching 700 MW capacity
