Abstract
Winter census of Wildfowl and Shorebirds in the Balearic Islands, January 2005 and 2006. Results of the winter census of Wildfowl and Shorebirds in the Balearic Island in the years 2005 and 2006. In the year 2005 a total of 23.941 individuals belonging to 66 species were recorded and in the year 2006 a total of 27.516 individuals were recorded, belonging to 65 species. The results are compared with those of other year and there is an overall increase in all the islands of the major groups except Charadriiformes in Menorca and Podicipediformes in the Pitiüses, which have suffered a marked decrease during the last two years
