Es citen 31 jaciments del Quaternari amb fauna marina fòssil situats a la badia de
Pollença (Mallorca), dels quals se’n descriuen 30. D’aquests jaciments, 18 eren
inèdits. Hi ha tres jaciments que no s’han pogut observar. Un d'ells no s’ha localitzat i
els altres dos perquè les infraestructures els han tapat. La major part del jaciments
(29) es troben a la zona SE de la badia, en el terme municipal d’Alcúdia. Només dos
es troben en el terme de Pollença. Les tipologies de dipòsit amb fòssils marins
d’aquesta zona són els següents: dipòsits de platja, reompliments de crulls amb
materials d’origen marí, reompliments de cavitats amb materials d’origen marí, llims
terrestres i eolianites. S’han citat 84 tàxons marins del Pleistocè repartits de la
següent manera: 1 Rhodophyceae, 2 Anthozoa, 2 Echinoidea, 25 Bivalvia, 1
Scaphopoda, 52 Gastropoda i 1 Crustacea. Com a fòssils bioindicadors marins de
l’inter-estadi Riss-Würm s’han citat Cardita senegalensis, Barbatia plicata, Patella
ferruginea, Strombus bubonius, Cymatium costatum, Cantharus viverratus i Conus
testudinarius. Nassarius mutabilis, s’ha trobat fòssil a un jaciment de sa Marina
(Alcúdia) i és la primera cita de l’espècie a un dipòsit del Pleistocè de les Illes
Balears.Thirty one Quaternary deposits with fossil marine fauna
located in Pollença Bay (Majorca) are quoted, and thirty of them are described.
Among them, 18 were previously unknown. It was impossible to observe 3 of them;
one because it could not be found and the other two because they were covered by
other structures. Most of the deposits (29) are settled in the SE area of the Bay,
within the municipal area Alcúdia, and only 2 of them are in the area of Pollença.
The typologies of the deposits under study are as follows: beach deposits, cracks
filled with marine materials, cavities filled with marine materials, terrestrial slime
and aeolianites. 84 marine taxa have quoted from the Pleistocene distributed as
follows: 1 Rhodophyceae, 2 Anthozoa, 2 Echinoidea, 25 Bivalvia, 1 Scaphopoda, 52
Gastropoda and 1 Crustacea. Belonging to the group of marine bio-indicator fossils
of the Riss-Würm interglacial period. The following have been recorded: Cardita
senegalensis, Barbatia plicata, Patella ferruginea, Strombus bubonius, Cymatium
costatum, Cantharus viverratus and Conus testudinarius. Nassarius mutabilis have
been found at a deposit in Sa Marina (Alcúdia) and it is the first record for the
Balearic Pleistocene deposits
