Project management resources as determinants of competitive advantage in Multimedia Super Corridor companies

Abstract

The use of the Resource-Based View (RBV) in examining the tangible and intangible resources, in terms of whether it is Valuable, Rare, Inimitable, and with Organizational Support, (VRIO characteristics) is a novel approach, adopted in this study. It is novel, because, it offers a new paradigm shift in the theoretical assessment to analyze project management resources in a more holistic and comprehensive manner, from a RBV/VRIO perspective and to examine its impact on competitive advantage. This study had assessed project management resources by incorporating all the nine knowledge areas in the project management literature (PMBOK 2008), namely, project scope, project time, and project cost as tangible project management resources and the intangible project resources was project quality, project human resources, project communication, project risk, project procurement, and project integration elements
