A votive altar from Cilleros dedicated to the Lusitanian gods Arentia and Arentivs and some precisions about another votive inscription from Villamiel (Cáceres)

Abstract

Estudiamos un ara votiva inédita hallada en la localidad de Cilleros (Cáceres) dedicada a los dioses Arentius y Arentia en la que se les cita con el epíteto Tedaicis. Este apelativo, relacionado con el ámbito familiar, nos permite reinterpretar otra inscripción hallada a principios del siglo xx en Villamiel (Cáceres) y considerada de dudosa fiabilidad hasta hoy, como referente a un deo Tetaeco. Tendríamos, por tanto, dos inscripciones con un mismo apelativo que fueron halladas a muy corta distancia entre sí, por lo que consideramos la inscripción de Villamiel como testimonio del dios Arentius.In this paper we study an unpublished votive altar found in Cilleros (Cáceres), and dedicated to the divinities Arentius and Arentia. In this altar, the referred divinities are called Tedaicis. This epithet, which belongs to the familiar context, allows us to interpret another inscription found at the beginning of the 20th century in Villamiel (Cáceres) and usually considered with suspicion, as an offering to deo Tetaeco.
