The aim of my paper is to reconstruct Peter Sloterdijk’s critique of messianism. Sloterdijk
distinguishes two sources of messianism: monotheistic zealousness and cumulation
of ire. The main consequence of messianism is political cynicism. Communism and the
discourse of the end of history are main secularized manifestations of messianism. Article
ends with some critical remarks on Sloterdijk’s view
