Article de revue (Article scientifique dans une revue à comité de lecture)International audienceThe Municipal Library of Rouen holds practically all that survives of the library of Richard Simon, the scholar of Dieppe origin, generally considered to be the founder of biblical studies in France. In spite of loss and destruction, an important collection of some hundred of Simon's books has come down to us. Amongst these books several heavily annotated volumes give us some insight into the working methods of this biblical critic. Nearly half of the works which survive today are in Hebrew or relate to the Jews. Several of these books has previously belonged to notable Hebrew scholars such as Cinquarbres, Vatable and Postel. Another fairly well preserved group relates to oriental beliefs. On the other hand there are comparatively few survivals from the books which Simon must have used most frequently (Bibles, patrologia, Catholic theology).La Bibliothèque municipale de Rouen conserve l'essentiel de ce qui a survécu de la bibliothèque de Richard Simon, l'érudit dieppois généralement considéré comme le fondateur des études bibliques en France. Malgré les pertes et les destructions, une collection d'une centaine de livres nous est parvenue. Plusieurs volumes abondamment annotés nous donnent un aperçu des méthodes de travail du critique biblique. Près de la moitié des livres sont en hébreu ou concernent les juifs. Plusieurs de ces ouvrages proviennent d'hébraïsants célèbres comme Cinquarbres, Vatable ou Postel. Les traités relatifs aux églises d'Orient ont été également relativement bien conservés, tandis que les ouvrages dont Simon devait se servir le plus (Bibles, ouvrages de patrologie ou de théologie catholique) ont presque tous disparu.</p
