Les mécanismes de garantie au sein d'un réseau d'alliances développant un projet d'innovation

Abstract

International audienceThis article seeks to understand the guarantee mechanisms implemented by the members ofan alliance network that develops an innovation project: image, financial or on specific assetsguarantees. On the one hand, we try to fill a void in the literature on these guarantees, taken tolimit members’ opportunism. On the other hand, we seek to identify the factors that influencethe type of mechanisms used by the focal firm and/or the other members. We conducted ananalysis over a period of 12 months on seven innovation projects. This research shows thatthe mechanisms vary according to the type of member and to the project advancement phase.Furthermore, according to the phase, mechanisms are established either unilaterally (duringthe development phase, only the broker uses guarantee mechanisms to protect his invention),or bilateral. Indeed, as the project goes on, most members also establish guarantees to protecttheir investments.Cet article vise à appréhender les mécanismes de garantie mis en oeuvre par les membres d'un réseau d'alliances développant un projet d'innovation : garanties d'image, financières ou sur les actifs spécifiques. D'une part, nous tentons de combler un vide dans la littérature sur ces garanties, prises pour limiter l'opportunisme des membres. D'autre part, nous cherchons à cerner les facteurs qui influent sur le type de mécanismes utilisé par les pivots et/ou par les autres membres. Nous avons réalisé une analyse sur une période de 12 mois, de sept projets d'innovation. Cette recherche met en évidence que les mécanismes mis en oeuvre diffèrent selon le type de membre et la phase d'avancement du projet. Par ailleurs, selon la phase, les mécanismes instaurés sont soit unilatéraux (en phase de développement, le porteur de projet est seul à utiliser des mécanismes de garantie afin de protéger son invention), soit bilatéraux.
