The number and the use of sensors to monitor the infrastructure condition increases rapidly. This is a necessary premise for condition based maintenance but also arises new challenges. Instead of duplicate sensor equipment and information redundancy, sensors should be applied efficiently, measured data should be available cross-linked, and information should be used comprehensively to make decisions.
