Books   If you are looking for a particular book and know the author or title, you can search the Library catalogue to see if it is held.  The catalogue will give the exact location (shelfmark) for that book. There are a large number of ebooks which can also be accessed via the library catalogue. Journals  Both print and electronic/online journals are listed by title on the Library catalogue.  (NB: look under the journal title, not the title of the article you need).   3.   Key (journal) databases for Architectural Regeneration and Development:  Academic Search Complete Avery Index to Architectural Periodical British Architectural Library Catalogue Business Source Complete Detail Inspirations Factiva (national and international news) JStor LexisLibrary (national and regional newspapers) Zetoc (index of all journals held at the British Library)  To find the COMPLETE journal article (full text), follow these steps:  check to see if the full text is available on that database itself  if not, search the Library catalogue by entering the journal title in Title search   if not on the Library catalogue, order a copy through the Library’s inter-library loan service   4. Dissertations and theses  Oxford Brookes undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations for architecture are held in the Built Environment Resource Centre (AB 215, Abercrombie Building). ALL Brookes’s PHD theses are held in the library – ask to view these at the enquiry desk.   The following book may be useful when you are planning your dissertation: Farrell, P (2011) Writing a built environment dissertation: practical guidance and examples  808.06669/FAR  ProQuest dissertations & theses : UK & Ireland (Abstracts / Index)  provides a list of theses with abstracts accepted for higher degrees by universities in Great Britain and Ireland since 1716, and can be found by clicking on Find a database. The theses can then be obtained via inter library loan.  7. Special Collections  Oxford Society of Architects (OSA) – a special collection of rare architecture books can be found in the Special Collections reading room.
