Abstract
This thesis is devoted to common features of photographic and film work of Raymond Depardon. It describes different periods of Depardon?s film work while taking into account his photographic work experince. The thesis concentrates on Depardon?s documentary filmography that is devided into several chapters according to dominating formal features. Depardon?s first feature film Empty quarter is mentioned marginally. Special attention is paid to Depardon?s position in French documentary photography in late 1970?s and early 1980?s.
