Notes on the interpretation of Plato's Meno

Abstract

The ignorance of the interlocutor detected with the help of the elenchos in the first part of the dialogue is starting point for the positive dialectical part. We do not need anysupport in the alleged secret unwritten doctrine for understanding the sense and main issues of this dialogue. Two points are discussed in this contribution: the failure of the analogy between geometry and ethics, the suggestion of the possible teacher of political arete
