Soils and their geology in the Geul valley

Abstract

Most soils in the Geul valley have a coarse-silty top layer and a fine-silty subsoil. The legend of the soil map is based on three textural classes. The soil maps show a single meander belt with coarse-silty levee soils, clayey and peaty basin soils and soils in transition. A noticeable feature of the valley are the fans in front of tributary-valleys. - from Autho
