In order to find solutions that can increase the damping of a lightweight steel joist floor, a series of small-scale experiments on a piece of resilient ceiling is performed. Two different types of "extra dampers" using a visco-elastic material are tested where one of them, working by shearing, seems to be effective. The measured material properties are compared with ideal properties simulated by a FE-model.
