Abstract
Aquatic organisms, including fishes and crustaceans,
even in the best of their environments live under extremely
dynamic physical and chemical conditions, many of which
have no analogue in the terrestrial environment. Although
individual fishes or populations may adapt to such conditions,
it does not imply that they do not expend energy to cope
physiologically with the condition
