An interesting case of ecto-tumour was observed in a specimen ofOtolithies cuvieri landed at New Ferry Wharfon 23/09/03.  The fish measured 278 mm intotal length and weighed 220gms.  Thetumorous outgrowth measured 17mm indiameter and was situated on the uppermaxillary.  It was orange in colour andconnected to the body by a small strip ofconnective tissue.  The nature of the atypicalgrowth could not be investigated.Reported by: B.B. The fishermenpushed the dolphin to deeper area.  But it diedin a couple of hours.  From the externalcharacters, mainly the number of teeth it wasidentified as spinner dolphin, Stenellalongirostris (Gray).
