STUDIES CONCERNING THE MORPHOLOGIC AND BIOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SOME ACHILLEA MILLEFOLIUM L. LINES, CULTIVATED IN BIOLOGIC AGRICULTURE CONDITIONS AT VRDS BAC?U
The studies were focused on Achillea millefolium L., specie that belongs to Compositae family, originated in Europe, Canada and China. This specie is important due to its multiple uses: culinary, ornamental, and especially as medicinal (gastrointestinal affections, wound cicatrising, anti-inflammatory, tonic, vasodilatation), cosmetics, colorant, as well as utile in biologic agriculture practice.
During 2002 – 2007 years, at VRDS Bac?u, a rich assortment of biologic material was studied, local population as well as abroad material. This material with a large variability was used in order to create the initial breeding material and two lines were promoted in the breeding program for cultivation in biologic agriculture system. The initial selection criterial was the decorative qualities
The studies of morphologic characteristics and essential oil content, revealed the ornamental and medicinal value through the presence of 35 compound in essential oil, the most important being: Elemol (12,72 % L-AR/2004 , 11,81 % L-AG/2004), Eudesmol (26,66 % L-AG/2004, 10,68 % L-AR/2004 as well as Cubemol, Cubeben, Saturen, Borneol, Eucaleptol, Pinen, Camfor etc
