Measurement of the proton-proton total cross section at 2, 7, 8 and 57 TeV

Abstract

The measurement of the total $pp$ cross section and its various sub-components (elastic, inelastic and diffractive) is a very powerful tool to understand the proton macro structure and fundamental QCD dynamics. In this contribution I first provide a theoretical introduction to the topic, then a summary of the experimental techniques and finally I review the new results from AUGER and LHC experiments.Comment: Physics in Collision, Slovakia, 201
